Hi! We're Danie and Jack.
We created Your Capability Store for a very personal reason.
We have three beautiful children - two gorgeous boys, Cooper and Alex, and one beautiful daughter, Keira, who was born with congenital cytomegalovirus, also known as CMV - a common virus that can infect people of all ages. Most healthy adults and children will have no signs and no long-term effects. It can, however, be very dangerous to unborn babies.
Keira is 7 years old. She is profoundly deaf, has two cochlear implants, is nonverbal autistic, global development delay, PICA, vision impaired and has sever texture aversions to food. She also attends a local Special School where she likes to keep everyone entertained with her strong willed non stop go attitude. She only learnt to walk just shy of her 3rd birthday and is starting to learn to communicate using PECS (Picture Exchange Communication).
The juggle of therapy sessions, appointments, medication, funding rounds, and so much more are challenges that many parents of children with a disability and adults with varying abilities face daily.
Add to this, the struggle to find a one-stop-shop to support your's or your child's basic development and personal needs is distressing.
Many people with disabilities and their families experience daily hardships that can have easy resolutions with specialised, adaptive services, unique designs and convenience.
No longer do you have to compromise on the essentials. We believe convenience and functionality go hand-in-hand. That's why we created Your Capability Store.
